It’s a sprawling natural area that spans 284 acres and is officially acknowledged by the Minnesota Dept. of Natural Resources as a “Regionally Significant Ecological Area.” You can expect to witness wild turkeys and families of deers quite frequently at Lake Elmo Place.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy some water activities, Lake Jane public boat access is just half a mile away from our home. Lake Jane is a 155-acre lake where you can go canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.
For those who love the great outdoors, the The Lake Elmo Park Reserve is less than 5 miles away. This 2,165-acre park offers various terrains, including forest and prairie. You can find modern and equestrian campgrounds, picnic areas, a fishing pier, a boat launch, a sand-bottom chlorinated swimming pond, a playground, and a picnic area. The swim pond is open daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and there are also access trails for biking and groomed cross-country ski trails.
If want to explore the area, Lake Elmo Place is just a short drive from the Mall of America, Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, St. Croix and Mississippi River Valleys, Downtown Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Stillwater.

Our prime location offers convenience, as we are located just 15-20 minutes from the Mall of America, MSP Airport, and Downtown Minneapolis, and a quick 5-minute drive to Downtown St. Paul. You’ll find entertainment and culture at your doorstep with the Xcel Energy Center, Ordway theaters, and Minnesota Children’s Museums nearby. Access to the Gillette Children’s Hospital and Regions Hospital makes our home a great place to settle in when you are away from your own home.
Savor the day on our lake-view patio, where you can witness breathtaking sunsets. Let the children frolic in the spacious front yard while you fire up the charcoal grill for a delightful cookout.
Just across the street is Phalen Region Park. This first-class park provides an abundance of activities, such as 3 miles of paved walking/biking trails that guide you around the scenic Lake Phalen and lead to a sandy swimming beach, sand volleyball court, children’s splash park, where water enthusiasts can rent canoes and sailboats. Barbecue grills are located around the site as well. Phalen Picnic Pavilion seats approximately 300 people, and the Amphitheater accommodates approximately 100 people. The cross-country skiing track is a 1 km track set, 7 km skate-ski with mostly intermediate-level trails and a warming house.
A championship-style golf course is less than 2 miles away. Keller Golf Course boasts a rich history and tradition unmatched by any other public golf course in Minnesota. Keller has hosted several PGA and LPGA tours throughout the years. Keller reopened to the public in 2014 after a complete renovation that earned recognition as the Best Municipal Renovation of 2014 from Golf Magazine and Renovation of the Year from Golf Inc. Colby Lake Place is an excellent vacation rental option for those who love scenic beauty and outdoor activities. The fully furnished, four-bedroom, two-bath, single-family, one-level home is located on Colby Lake, offering a beautiful 3.2-mile loop walking trail outside the back door. Additionally, Woodbury, Minnesota, where Colby Lake Place is situated, combines urban bustle and idyllic quiet. The city has 51 parks, yet it is only 15 minutes away from St. Paul and Minneapolis.
